Built in the second half of the 19th century, probably before 1904

History:

•  Originally a dependency of the Vatopedi Monastery of Mount Athos, hence the name “Kalogeriko” 
•  In 1926, it was donated by the Vatopedi Monastery to the Municipality of Thassos, initially to house a primary school 
•  After the Asia Minor Catastrophe, it accommodated refugee families 
•  Restored in 1975 by the Ephorate of Classical Antiquities 
•  Permanently transferred to the Municipality of Thassos in 1990 

Architecture:

•  Two-story stone and wood building with a slate roof 
•  Features tall stone chimneys, bay windows, and small wooden balconies 
•  Represents a characteristic example of traditional architecture in the Thracian-Macedonian region 

Today:

•  Under the supervision of the Municipality of Thassos, it hosts painting and photography exhibitions, music concerts, lectures, and other cultural events 
•  The upper floor houses the “Thassian House,” an ethnographic exhibition recreating a traditional Thassian residence
