"In the center of Potamia, the birthplace of the famous sculptor Polygnotos Vagis, there is a picturesque two-story stone building. Today, it hosts one of the most interesting fine arts museums in Northern Greece."

Artist:
- Polygnotos Vagis was born in Potamia on January 14, 1892
- He emigrated to the USA in 1911, where he studied and worked at the Institute of Fine Arts in New York
- He died in New York on March 15, 1965, but was buried in his hometown, leaving all his works to Greece
Important Exhibits:
- 98 sculptures and 15 paintings from the period 1920–1960
- Highlights include “Bear with Newborn,” “World,” and a display case with 25 small sculptures
Artistic Themes:
- First Period (1919–1930): Realistic works with human figures, symbolic complexes, and animals inspired by ancient Greek mythology, history, and the Bible
- Second Period (1932 onwards): Abstract compositions with a primal spirit – faces, animal forms, moons, worlds – in copper, stone, marble, wood, and granite

A unique museum honoring one of the most important modern Greek sculptors, recognized internationally
