History:
It was built to house finds from the French Archaeological School, which conducted systematic excavations on the island from the early 20th century.

Notable Exhibits:

• Kouros of Thassos – Colossal archaic statue, 3.5 m tall (6th century BC) 
• Aphrodite with Dolphin – Loaned to museums worldwide 
• Statue of Hadrian and busts of Roman emperors Claudius, Julius Caesar, and Lucius Caesar 
•  Rare collection of archaic pottery and marble sculptures from Thassos, Pentelic, and Parian marble 

Significance:
With over 2,300 exhibits in 1,500 m², the museum highlights Thassos’ role in the ancient Greek world as a center for marble, wine, and artistic creation.
