Location: Facilities covering 4 acres, about 3 km from Prinos, 16 km from Limenas – approximately 18 minutes by car
Founded: 1973 by 44 beekeepers who united the local cooperatives of all villages into a single cooperative for the island. The buildings were completed in 1976.
Products:
- Thasos produces approximately 3,000 tons of honey annually.
- Pine honey from Thasos is produced by hives placed in the island’s mountain pine forests, completely free from pesticides and radiation, as there are no other crops in the area.
- According to scientific research, Thasos pine honey is considered similar or superior to the internationally known Manuka honey.
- Other honey varieties: flower, heather, chestnut, and thyme.
Awards: First place in an international competition in England in 2020, as well as multiple other awards.
Museum: The cooperative houses a Honey Museum, open to the public.
Dress code: Appropriate attire required for entry (covered shoulders, long clothing).
Product purchase: Available directly from the cooperative.
